Although I really enjoy all months that I get to spend in cemeteries (January thru December), the autumn months are definitely my favorite.
As weather becomes crisp, it’s almost as if we can congratulate ourselves for surviving August’s blistering heat. Along with crisp weather, the leaves on local trees change color to beautiful purples, oranges, and reds.
Additionally in the autumn months, I’m able to find many types of wildlife that are scarce during summer. Deer are plentiful, hawks and eagles glide overhead in search of prey along their migratory routes, and orb weaving spiders begin fattening up before winter.
Yes, even spiders. I’m fascinated by them. I am a bit of an arachnophile and I’m really fascinated by spider’s behavior this time of year. Still, since many people are creeped out by spiders, it’s no wonder spiders are featured on many Halloween decorations.
